FAQ

WHAT IS SEXY SWEAT?

Sexy Sweat is a unique combination of jazz dance, contemporary dance, musical theater, and sensual movement that is suited to any age, any body, any gender, and any level of experience. Class begins with a dance warm-up and some basic technique drills. We then learn a piece of choreography designed to make everyone feel like their sexiest and most confident selves. Check out my IG for lots of examples of Sexy Sweat choreography.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASS?

You should wear whatever makes you feel most confident and comfortable. As long as you’re reasonably covered and you can move freely, it’s fair game! Some students wear dancewear like leotards and shorts, while others prefer yoga pants and a t-shirt. Experiment with your dance clothes to find what works best for you. It is always helpful to dress in layers so you can stay warm until your body stays warm for you!

WHAT ABOUT MY FEET? SHOULD I WEAR SHOES?

Street shoes are not permitted on the dance floor because we need to keep it nice and clean for our bodies. Michigan weather does not lend itself to clean shoes. That said, you are welcome to dance barefoot, in socks, or in a pair of shoes just for dance class that you bring with you. You may want to try dancing in a heel. Heels can make you feel powerful and sexy when dancing our style. They can actually make some choreography and technique drills easier! If you are not an experienced heels dancer, please talk to me or someone else with experience who can tell you what to look for and what to avoid in a dance heel before spending your money.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?

Please bring a pre-filled water bottle and a yoga mat if you prefer to use one when we stretch on the floor. There are a few extra yoga mats at the studio if you forget. Some dancers like to use knee pads in class for any floor work we may learn. You are welcome to bring them, but they are not required.

CAN I FILM IN CLASS?

There will typically be an opportunity to be filmed dancing the choreography at the end of class when time and circumstances allow. Please be courteous of other dancers and do not post or share any video content that contains footage of other dancers without their express consent.
